Scholarship
The Scholarship Committee’s purpose is to provide financial assistance to those students who have not only demonstrated scholastic excellence but whose humanitarian attributes have been exemplified through continuous community service. The scholarship is open to residents or students of the Hayward Tri-City (HTC) area who are high school seniors, students who are currently enrolled in a two or four year college/university, and to those individuals who are “Late Bloomers” (students who have decided to go back to school later in life). The committee’s goal has been to provide at least $10,000 in total scholarship awards annually.
Applicants are required to submit a completed application, a certified copy of their official transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and a color photo. If the students meet the basic qualifications, they are invited to participate in a panel interview from which the committee makes their final selection of candidates.
Hayward Tri-City (HTC) has provided financial support to students who have been accepted to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Stanford, Yale, UCLA, USC, Cal State Universities, The UC Regents, Saint Mary’s College and local Community Colleges. In our efforts to promote scholastic excellence, the chapter allows recipients to re-apply for our scholarship annually as long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA.
HTC invites each recipient and their family and friends to our annual fundraiser, Music on the Green, where the committee recognizes each scholarship recipient for their scholastic achievement.
